Paul Desjardins

Dr. Desjardins is a dentist and clinical pharmacologist with 40 years of leadership experience in academic institutions and in the pharmaceutical industry having worked at Wyeth and Pfizer. He received his BS with honors from the University of Rhode Island, his DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Georgetown University. He is an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine and at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He has published over 200 publications, abstracts and book chapters on human models of acute pain and the effectiveness of new pain-relieving drugs. He has Chaired the Tufts Dental School Board of Advisors, is a former member of the Coverys (Medical Liability) Board of Directors and has been an active member of the South Orange Performing Arts Center Board of Governors since 2016.

He and his wife Cathy have two children (Philip and Corinne) and five charming grandchildren. They love live music and have discovered many new artists at SOPAC.
