Four Session Masterclass
For Students Grades 8-12
Cabaret in the Loft Performance
Presented as part of SOPAC’s Cabaret in the Loft series, Something Beautiful is a four-session, two-hour masterclass led by acclaimed singer, actress, and educator Corinna Sowers Adler. Over the course of the program, students will receive professional-level vocal and performance coaching, culminating in a final Loft performance alongside Corinna.
Corinna—nominated multiple times for the Excellence in Theatre Education Tony Award—has performed at top New York venues including Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Appel Room, Feinstein’s/54 Below, and The Green Room 42. She is also Founding Artistic Director of NiCori Studios & Productions, dedicated to cultivating the next generation of American Songbook performers.
In the workshop, students will:
– Receive instruction on vocal technique, acting through song, musicality, harmonies, and stage presence
– Explore the unique art of cabaret versus musical theatre or opera
– Collaborate on ensemble and small-group numbers, blending American Standards and Broadway classics
The series concludes with students performing in Something Beautiful on Sunday November, 23 at 7:00PM. This Cabaret in the Loft performance is a concert of 15 beloved songs—ranging from Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” to Stephen Schwartz’s “Defying Gravity”—featuring Corinna with student soloists, small ensembles, and full chorus moments.
This program reflects SOPAC’s mission to inspire, educate, and engage through the performing arts, offering aspiring performers an immersive, hands-on experience in the intimate, artist-focused setting of the Loft.
