Burton Yount

Burton Yount has been an engaged member of the South Orange–Maplewood community for over 20 years, with a strong focus on music education, youth development, and community-based arts programming. He has supported and facilitated musical opportunities within our schools and beyond, serving as manager of the Northern New Jersey Youth Orchestra and the Harambee Chamber Orchestra, and helping to establish a chamber music series at Columbia High School. Through this work, he partnered closely with music directors, educators, and students, including his own children.

Burton is deeply passionate about the arts, and music in particular, and has long sought opportunities to support the creative efforts of committed artists while fostering the growth of the next generation of creators. He is especially interested in helping SOPAC increase community awareness of its work, inspire audiences to seek out artistic experiences beyond their current range of interests, and break down silos within creative communities so that energy and passion from one discipline can inspire others. He believes SOPAC is uniquely positioned to serve as a hub for artistic connection, inspiration, and innovation.

Professionally, Burton is a User Experience Designer at JPMorgan Chase and brings more than 25 years of experience as an Art Director in the music industry, including eight years at Blue Note Records. He offers valuable expertise in user experience strategy, website design, user flows, and visual design, and has expressed enthusiasm about contributing these skills in service of SOPAC’s digital presence, branding, and audience engagement efforts.
