Step into the intimate, electrifying world of Jazz in the Loft with the Evan Sherman Group, led by drummer, bandleader, and arranger Evan Sherman, praised for his “gentle fire” and “old master” touch behind the kit. Drawing on years of performing with jazz icons around the globe, Sherman brings seasoned artistry, deep swing, and a joyful commitment to the jazz tradition into SOPAC’s cozy Loft space.  Jazz in the Loft is curated by Grammy-winning producer and South Orange resident, John Lee.  With Lee’s exceptional ear and vision, every show highlights the artistry of today’s most dynamic jazz performers.

• A Modern Master of Swing: Sherman has toured with and been mentored by giants including Ron Carter, Roy Hargrove, Branford Marsalis, and Wynton Marsalis, honing a style that is both classic and unmistakably his own.
• From Big Bands to Global Stages: Leader of the acclaimed 16-piece Evan Sherman Big Band—seen at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Blue Note, Birdland, and major festivals—he has also recorded and toured internationally with GRAMMY-winning vocalist Samara Joy.
