The orchestra has never looked—or sounded—quite like this. Founded by conductor and composer Brent Chancellor and developed in partnership with Carnegie Hall’s Link Up, LUX Orchestra and SOPAC, LUX reimagines what it means to experience live orchestral music. Combining high-energy performance, dynamic lighting, synchronized projections, and interactive listening, LUX transforms the orchestra into something students don’t just hear—they experience it.
See the Orchestra
Dynamic lighting, synchronized projections, and live interaction reveal the orchestra in ways students have never experienced before. Students discover the instrument families and meet some of the musicians behind the music. What once felt unfamiliar becomes unforgettable.
Hear the Difference
LUX takes students on a journey through the greatest moments in orchestral music: from Beethoven’s iconic Symphony No. 5 and Bizet’s spirited Toreador Song to the rhythmic fire of Stravinsky and the cinematic excitement of John Williams’ legendary film scores. Along the way, students learn to listen in new ways, discovering how melody, rhythm, tempo, and dynamics shape music across classical masterworks, opera, ballet, and film.
An Orchestra Like No Other
This isn’t a passive concert experience. Whether your students are total music beginners or already playing an instrument, LUX engages them as active participants, creating an orchestral experience unlike anything they’ve encountered before. More than just a field trip, it gives teachers a meaningful experience to draw on throughout the school year, building on the curiosity, confidence, and musical connections sparked during the performance.
The final note is just the beginning. It may be one of the first field trips of the school year—but it’s one you’ll be revisiting all year long.
