Michael H. Karu, CPA/CFF joined the SOPAC Board of Governors in 2026. Professionally, Michael is a Certified Public Accountant and Senior Member of Ott, Shore & Company, L.L.C. in Parsippany, where he leads the firm’s Business Valuation and Litigation Support Group. He has been qualified as an expert witness in business valuations by the Superior Court of New Jersey, is a Certified Divorce Mediator, and holds a certification in Financial Forensics. He has also co-authored numerous articles on business valuation and financial issues regarding matrimonial law for publications including the New Jersey Law Journal and New Jersey Lawyer.

Michael is deeply committed to community service. He currently serves as President of the Rotary Club of West Orange, having previously served as an Assistant District Governor and involved with Rotary’s Youth Exchange programs — hosting three long-term exchange students and leading a cultural exchange trip to Japan. He also serves as Treasurer for Help the Children Hear, which repurposes hearing aids for children in developing countries, and spent thirteen years as the Girls’ Varsity Volleyball Head Coach at Golda Och Academy.

A graduate of The Ohio State University, Michael resides in West Orange with his wife, Marlene, their two daughters, and grandson Austin. An avid reader and traveler, his goal is to visit all 50 states and 50 countries — he’s more than halfway there.
