Bilingual Grooves
Something Entirely New
Grammy Award winners Sō Percussion are one of the most inventive and celebrated percussion ensembles in the world. Helado Negro is the project of Roberto Lange, a bilingual songwriter and producer whose electronics-driven, Latin-influenced grooves have earned him a devoted following and a reputation as one of indie music’s most original voices. Together they have built something unlike anything that has come before.
- Two Worlds, One Band: Sō Percussion deploy their arsenal of instruments, shakers, tin cans, drums, marimbas, bass lines, and synthesizers, to inhabit the grooves at the heart of Roberto’s music. The result is something genuinely new: bilingual songs that pulse with infectious rhythm, surprising texture, and the kind of detail that rewards close listening and irresistible dancing at the same time.
- Songs Built From Scratch: Every piece in this set was co-written from the ground up, a true collaboration rather than an arrangement or an overlay. These are not covers. They are discoveries.
- Virtuosity in Service of the Song: Sō Percussion’s well-established technical mastery can emerge at any moment to propel or decorate a song, but it never overwhelms. What drives this collaboration is groove, curiosity, and a shared commitment to finding sounds that feel both ancient and completely alive.
Come ready to move, listen, and be genuinely surprised.
