Wednesday, May 25 from 12-1PM

Join us as we unveil a new look at SOPAC!

On Wednesday, May 25 from 12-1PM, join the South Orange Performing Arts Center, Cinema Lab, the township of South Orange Village and South Orange Downtown for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of Hurricane Ida renovations.

Following the ribbon-cutting, take a self-guided tour of the refurbished Jennifer & Tony Leitner Performance Hall, The Herb + Milly Iris Gallery and the lobbies. Stick around for a free movie screening at 1:15PM. At Cinema Lab, watch Downton Abbey: A New Era and enjoy complimentary popcorn and soda (one per guest).

A brief recap of SOPAC’s Hurricane Ida recovery journey:

SOPAC was forced to completely close its lobby, mainstage and in-person box office for six months, from September 2021 to February 2022, while remediation and restoration were underway following Hurricane Ida’s destruction. Although mainstage performances resumed in February 2022, renovations continued through to May 2022. Now, SOPAC has a new stage and orchestra pit, freshly painted walls and modern carpeting throughout all three floors of the building, including the Cinema Lab movie theaters. We can confidently say, SOPAC is so back!
