Don’t miss the New Jersey preliminary competition for Ladies of Laughter’s 2024 National Comedy Contest!

The Ladies of Laughter started as an annual videotape comedy competition in New York to honor comedian Mary Jo Wobker, who helped so many other female comedians break into the stand-up world.  Since its inception, the competition has grown into comedy clubs and venues around the tri-state area, including Atlantic City casinos, Madison Square Garden, and now SOPAC!

Now known as “The Career Builder for Women in Comedy,” previous participants have included Amy Schumer, Big Bang Theory star Melissa Rauch, Michelle Buteau, Jessica Kirson, Rachel Feinstein, and countless others.

About the Competition

The competition will have two categories for “Professionals” and “Newcomers.”  The judges panel will include producers, along with press and industry judges, who will evaluate contestants on audience response, originality, material, and delivery.

There will be preliminary events across the tri-state area at SOPAC (New Jersey), Governor’s Comedy Club (Long Island), Emelin Theatre (Westchester), and Rodney’s Comedy Club (NYC).  The winners from each preliminary event will advance to the Grand Finale on August 14 at Rodney’s Comedy Club!
