You don’t want to miss John Pizzarelli as he brings his latest album Stage & Screen to SOPAC!

Finding inspiration from classic Broadway musicals and Hollywood films, Stage & Screen’s cleverly chosen repertoire spans nine decades of American music from the 1925 musical No, No, Nanette to Jason Robert Brown’s Hollywood in Vegas (2013).  In between, there are pieces by iconic songwriters and composers like Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart, Oscar Hammerstein II, Leonard Bernstein, Sammy Cahn, and Jule Styne, as well as songs immortalized in films like Casablanca.

About John Pizzarelli

Guitarist and singer John Pizzarelli has been hailed by the Boston Globe for “reinvigorating the Great American Songbook and re-popularizing Jazz.”  Established as one of the prime contemporary interpreters of the Great American Songbook, Pizzarelli has expanded that repertoire by including the music of Paul McCartney, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Tom Waits, Antônio Carlos Jobim, and the Beatles.

In addition to being a bandleader and solo performer, Pizzarelli has been a special guest on recordings for major Pop names such as Natalie Cole, Kristin Chenoweth, Tom Wopat, Rickie Lee Jones, and Dave Van Ronk, as well as leading Jazz artists such as Rosemary Clooney, Ruby Braff, Johnny Frigo, Buddy DeFranco, Harry Allen, and his father Bucky Pizzarelli.  In 2021, John Pizzarelli won a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album as co-producer of James Taylor’s American Standard.

Pizzarelli has performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Conan, and Great Performances, as well as on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman, and at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
