Hammond Organ Jazz

Thirty Years of Chemistry

A Musical Conversation

The New York Times called them “the best organ trio of the last decade” in the mid ‘90s. Thirty years later, Larry Goldings, Peter Bernstein, and Bill Stewart are still at it, still charting new ground, and still playing with the kind of synergistic chemistry that only three decades of shared musical conversation can produce. This is jazz at its most assured, most intimate, and most alive.

  • Three Masters, One Sound: Larry Goldings brings a signature Hammond organ style and a sideman resume that includes John Scofield, Michael Brecker, Pat Metheny, James Taylor, and John Mayer. Peter Bernstein has participated in over 200 recordings and maintained long associations with Joshua Redman, Diana Krall, and Sonny Rollins. Bill Stewart, the rhythmic force behind John Scofield since 1990, is now one of the most sought after jazz drummers in the world.
  • A Catalog Built on Depth: With over a dozen recordings exploring jazz standards and original compositions, the trio has never settled for the obvious approach. Their most recent album Toy Tunes earned four stars from Downbeat, which praised its ability to “subtly subvert organ-trio cliches” with “hip after-hours atmospherics”.
  • Music That Rewards The Listener: Seeing Goldings, Bernstein, and Stewart perform together is to witness a musical conversation so deep and intuitive it feels almost private, three extraordinary musicians listening to each other with total attention and responding with total trust.
