Roots Music Reimagined
Folk, Jazz, and Beyond
Unity Through Diversity
“America has a patchwork culture made of the dreams and songs of all its people,” said Alan Lomax, and the American Patchwork Quartet has taken that idea and built something extraordinary from it. Founded by multi-Grammy Award winning guitarist and vocalist Clay Ross, APQ brings together four internationally celebrated musicians to reimagine the timeless songs of America’s past through a lens as diverse and alive as the country itself.
- A Sound Unlike Anything Else: APQ weaves dynamic guitar work, Indian classical vocals, jazz-driven rhythm, West African hypnotics, and East Asian ornamentation into a richly textured whole that defies easy categorization. Their debut album was Grammy-nominated for Best Folk Album, a recognition that only hints at the full breadth of what they do.
- Four Musicians, One Coherent Vision: What makes APQ remarkable is not just the diversity of its influences but the depth of its collaboration. These are world-class musicians united not by similarity but by a shared commitment to artistic integrity, representation, and the pursuit of something genuinely new.
- Music That Means Something Right Now: APQ offers something rare: a joyful and deeply rooted reminder that the immigrant soul of American music has always been its greatest strength.
