Can I bring in food or drinks?
Food is not permitted and only beverages in SOPAC Theatre Cups are permitted inside the theatre. SOPAC Theatre Cups are available for sale at the lobby bar which is open during most mainstage events.
Are you a dinner-theatre?
SOPAC is not a dinner-theatre. There are, however, many restaurants nearby. You can find a list of area dining options in the Plan Your Visit section of our website.
How much do tickets cost?
Ticket prices vary depending on the event. Tickets to SOPAC Kids ‘N Family performances range in price from $12-$30. Evening performances typically range in price from $30-$70. Presenters who rent SOPAC for their own productions set their own ticket prices.
What are your ticket fees?
A $1 Facility Fee is applied to each ticket on all ticket orders.
A $1 Shipping Fee is applied to ticket orders with “Ship” selected as the delivery method.
Processing Fees of $1-$9 are applied to each ticket on all internet and phone ticket orders, depending on the ticket price. Processing fees are waived on ticket orders made in person at the Box Office. Fees and ticket prices are subject to change without notice.
Does a child need a ticket even if he/she sits on my lap?
Every person entering the theatre, regardless of their age, must have a ticket and the opportunity to occupy a seat. No babies in arms are permitted. Patrons are strongly urged to check the age recommendations before buying tickets for children. Children under four are only permitted at Kids ‘N Family performances.
Do you offer Student Rush tickets?
Student Rush tickets are available at SOPAC-presented performances beginning two hours prior to curtain and subject to availability. Check with the Box Office on the day of the show for availability. Student Rush tickets are $10 each and must be purchased in person at the Box Office. Valid full-time student ID required. One ticket per valid full-time student ID permitted.
JESPY House clients are eligible for Student Rush tickets.
Seton Hall University students are eligible for Pirate Rush at SOPAC-presented performances. Pirate Rush tickets are completely free and subject to the same conditions as Student Rush tickets. Seton Hall students can also attend Seton Hall University Arts Council performances at SOPAC at no charge. Students from other schools pay a reduced student price.
Do you have a Lost and Found?
Lost and found items are held in the Box Office. Unclaimed items are disposed of several times a year.
What happens in the event of inclement weather?
In the event of inclement weather, if the artist is able to reach the venue, the performance will go on. In the event of a cancellation or postponement, SOPAC will notify current ticket holders as soon as possible via phone and/or e-mail. If you have questions about whether a performance is taking place, please visit the SOPAC website or call the Box Office.
Please be aware that we request a phone number and/or e-mail address from all patrons during the ticket purchasing process. If contact information is not provided when your tickets are purchased, you waive your right to a courtesy notification regarding event cancellation or postponement.
Do you have shows for children?

SOPAC also presents a School Performance Series for field trip opportunities.
Can I take pictures in the theatre?
The taking of photographs, video, or any other recordings are prohibited.
What is the dress code?
SOPAC does not have an official dress code. Depending on the type of event, you may see patrons wearing anything from jeans and t-shirts to formal wear. As a general guide, we recommend that you come in business or dressy-casual attire.
If I lost my ticket, can I still see the show?
The original ticket buyer can secure replacement tickets in person at the Box Office with valid ID. Replacement tickets cannot be issued to anyone other than the original ticket buyer, and only if a full name and contact information was provided at the time of the ticket purchase.
Can I exchange my ticket for another show or get a refund?
SOPAC does not issue refunds except in the event of a cancelled performance. SOPAC Members at the Champion level and above may exchange tickets to SOPAC-presented events up until 1PM the day of a performance.
Patrons who cannot attend a SOPAC-presented event for which they purchased tickets, may donate their tickets back to SOPAC up until 1PM the day of the performance. Patrons who make ticket donations will receive a letter from SOPAC within 30 days acknowledging a donation in the amount of the face value of the tickets for tax purposes.
Does SOPAC share mailing list information?
Presenters who rent the theatre have access to contact information of patrons who purchased tickets to their show. In addition, SOPAC participates in mailing list exchanges with other New Jersey-based performing arts organizations.
Where do I park?
Parking can sometimes be a challenge in the heart of any lively community, no matter how large or small. Please be sure to allow time for parking when visiting SOPAC. South Orange is fortunate to have over 400 parking spots available within two blocks of SOPAC. Most parking lots are free after 6PM on weekdays and many are free all day Saturday and Sunday. Where are restrooms and water fountains located?
The primary restroom facilities and water fountains are located on the second floor across from the SOPAC Mezzanine seating. The second floor is accessible via elevator and the grand staircase.
