The MidAtlantic Opera and Seton Hall Choir, under the direction of Jason Tramm, present a concert version of Giacomo Puccini’s beloved operatic gem Madama Butterfly, one of the most famous love stories of all time. The breathtakingly beautiful score has retained its popularity through the decades, and is one of the most-produced operas throughout the world.

A young Japanese geisha falls head-over-heels in love with her new American husband and gives up everything for him. Her family renounces her. Madama Butterfly believes their love is real, even after three years without so much as a word from him, though everyone around her knows the truth. They try to convince her to move on but she won’t. She can’t. Rejected by her past, and forgotten by the man she loves, she waits, until “Un Bel Di Vedremo” (One Fine Day) he returns, though what happens next is not what young Butterfly dreamed of.

Presented by the Seton Hall University Arts Council. Co-sponsored by the Seton Hall Charles and Joan Alberto Italian Studies Institute and Classical Concert Series.
