Live performances can be an unforgettable experience that reinforce classroom learning, ignite imagination and creativity,  and help young people develop a lifelong enthusiasm for the arts.

The School Performance Series at SOPAC complements classroom lesson plans by engaging students in entertaining and educational performing arts experiences that support the NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards, and brings the page to the stage in an exciting and interactive way.

School Performance Series performances often include Q&A sessions with artists along with Study Guides to help get the most fun and learning from your field trip experience. Seating at performances is reserved by group and begins thirty minutes prior to any show. When booking, please let us know of any special accommodations or wheelchair accessible seating requirements so we can make every effort to accommodate your group’s needs.

Pinocchio

Friday, November 16 at 10AM    
Pinocchio, the story of a wooden boy carved from the loving hands of his “Mother,” Dame Gina Geppetto, is brought to life as only The Panto Company can. Join Pinocchio on an adventure full of magic and wonder as he sings and dances his way to becoming a real boy. He’ll experience Stromboli’s travelling show, Pleasure Island, the inside of a whale’s mouth with his companions, the Blue Fairy and Jimmini Cricket among many others. A classic show for the whole family with all the production values The Panto Company USA has become known for – guaranteed to be a show with no strings attached!

American Repertory Ballet’s Nutcracker

American Repertory Ballet brings the beloved classic to the stage with Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score, stunning new sets, thrilling choreography, and a cast of over 100 performers.

The Phantom Tollbooth

One day a mysterious tollbooth appears in Milo’s room and having nothing better to do, he drives his toy car through it. To his astonishment and increasing delight, he finds himself in a peculiar new world and on an eventful and dangerous quest. While on his magical journey, Milo discovers the delights of friendship, curiosity and knowledge and finds out that with a little bit of courage, anything is possible.

Super Scientific Circus

Tuesday, February 5 at 10AM 
Combining zany characters and outrageous stunts with hilarious audience participation, Super Scientific Circus fuses the wonder of science with wholesome entertainment. Super Scientific Circus, starring Mr. Fish and Trent the Mime, proves that science can be both fun and funny. Alternately assisted and foiled by the comedic antics of Trent the Mime, Mr. Fish uses amazing circus skills involving boomerangs, bubbles, beach balls, bull whips, and magic to introduce the principles of friction, inertia, centripetal force, aerodynamics, sonic booms, air pressure, and ultraviolet light.

Beauty & The Beast

One of this season’s spellbinding family shows from The Panto Company USA stars Dame Dotty Potty, Loopy Louie, Gaston, Belle and of course The Beast! The beautiful Belle finds herself in a spell-bound castle held captive by a beast…does she fall in love with the Beast before the last petal falls from the enchanted rose? Or will the Beast’s selfishness cost him the world he once knew and the hand of the girl that has melted his heart? Filled with all of the wonderful ingredients you have come to expect from The Panto Company USA; lots of laughter, stunning costumes, music and plenty of magic.

The Unauthorized Biography Series – Live Your Legacy

Monday, March 4 at 10AM
In this inspiring multimedia performance and motivational journey, Shaun Boothe discusses strength, character, media and issues of identity/diversity.  The Bio Series tells the inspiring life stories of cultural icons such as Terry Fox, Malala Yousafzai, and Muhammed Ali through music and rhyme.  Shaun repackages history in a way that connects with students and reinforces the importance of living a meaningful life. It is a celebration of greatness made not just to inform and entertain but to inspire and awaken the greatness within us all.

Jungle Book 

Monday, May 20 at 10AM
Join young Mowgli as he learns the ‘Laws’ of the jungle in this time-honored adventure. With the help of friends like the black panther, Bagheera, and Baloo the lovable bear, Mowgli learns about friendship and survival. Cheer as Mowgli faces his fear and foils his nemesis the tiger, Shere Khan. This musical version of Rudyard Kipling’s classic will delight both the young and the young at heart.
