Volunteers who give generously of their time and talents are an integral part of SOPAC’s success. Volunteers are the smiling faces behind the SOPAC experience who provide valuable services to patrons as well as the administrative staff.
The SOPAC volunteer program offers a variety of opportunities for you to get involved. Whether you prefer office work, event staffing, ushering or contributing your professional expertise, you will be warmly welcomed. As a SOPAC volunteer you will be a valued member of a team of like-minded people who enjoy the camaraderie of fellow volunteers and who enjoy giving to their community. Even if you only have a few hours a month to give, please join us as a volunteer. You contribution of time, and your commitment to SOPAC is valued.
Benefits of Volunteering
A valuable cultural experience. Learn about the live music, comedy, theatre, dance, and family events SOPAC offers. The volunteer program provides an unparalleled opportunity to participate in many aspects of a non-profit arts organization.
Enjoy flexible hours. During the presenting season, there are a wide variety of evening and weekend events at which you can volunteer. In the administrative office, there are occasional volunteer opportunities. Administrative office hours are 9AM–6PM, Monday through Friday.
Receive volunteer vouchers. The volunteer hours you accrue will earn you vouchers that are good for 2 tickets to a SOPAC-presented event of your choosing. Vouchers should be redeemed in advance of a performance to confirm ticket availability.
Front-of-House: Ushers and front-of-house volunteers are the public face of SOPAC and there are many positions to fill. Ushers work closely with house management staff. In this position you will gain experience in customer relations and help to create a warm, welcoming environment for SOPAC patrons. Duties may include ticket taking, handing out programs, or assisting patrons to their seats.
Administrative: An administrative volunteer interacts with SOPAC administrative staff and can gain an understanding of many areas of theatre management. Activities vary based on the time of year. General tasks include database management, mail merges, general filing, and reception responsibilities. Administrative volunteers should have general knowledge of both Microsoft Word and Excel, and a personable phone manner.
Marketing: Marketing volunteers focus on publicity and visibility for SOPAC. This volunteer will assist in daily administrative duties, participate in special events, help distribute marketing materials and more depending on skills and interests.
Art Ambassador: Art ambassadors will be trained to engage SOPAC patrons with the art on display in The Herb & Milly Iris Gallery at SOPAC.
