As a not-for-profit 501c(3) organization dedicated to presenting a rich schedule of diverse entertainment experiences, SOPAC relies on the support of our community of arts enthusiasts. Bringing world-class performers like Paquito D'Rivera, Yo-Yo Ma, and Anoushka Shankar to our intimate theater is a costly undertaking, and ticket sales cover only a fraction of operating expenses.
SOPAC offers a wide range of opportunities to become part of our growing family, from individual annual memberships to corporate sponsorship to supporting our Capital Campaign: Building Cultural Capital.
We welcome your cash, check, or credit card donation, and please be sure to check with your employer to learn whether a matching gift program is available to help multiply your contribution. Besides outright gifts of cash, there are many other ways to support our campaign, and each can offer the donor distinct tax advantages. It is often worth exploring the options available with a financial planner, who can help you make the gift that you truly want to give.
- Gifts of Securities: Securities, either publicly traded or privately held, may be donated to SOPAC and can provide tax advantages that outright gifts of cash cannot. For example, when appreciated securities (which have been held by the donor for one year or more) are contributed, the donor may deduct the fair-market value and completely avoid the capital gains tax associated with the appreciation. Donors receive a charitable income tax deduction for the full value of the stock as of the date the gift is received at SOPAC.
- Corporate Matching Gifts: Many corporations will match employees' gifts or their spouses' gifts. This may double or sometimes even triple the amount of the donor's gift. The donor is credited for the full amount of the gift (including the corporate match).
- Life Income Giving: You have the opportunity to make yet another lasting investment in SOPAC through several programs: Charitable Gift Annuities, Pooled Income Funds, Charitable Remainder Unitrusts, and Charitable Lead Trusts.
- Wills/Bequests: It is very easy—and rewarding—to remember SOPAC in your will by designating a portion or set amount of your estate to pass to the organization. In this way, you can make a gift that will have a positive impact on the lives of young musicians for many years to come.
