Full Time Positions:
The Director of Audience Services oversees the ticketing and front-of-house operations for over 100 events per season at this active and growing performing arts center. Providing excellent customer service is a central value of the organization, which, coupled with our intimate performance space, is what sets SOPAC apart from other venues. The Director of Audience Services leads the staff in carrying out all patron communications and ticket sales, managing an active volunteer program, providing detailed financial and patron reports, and ensuring a positive patron experience at the Center. The Director of Audience Services works closely with all other departments to carry out an ambitious vision of the South Orange Performing Arts Center as a cultural icon in the region and a destination for unique and high-quality arts experiences.

The marketing/communication intern will work with the Director of External Relations and the Marketing Manager to promote the South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) through writing and submitting press and media releases, media pitches for artist interviews, on-air opportunities, contests and more. She/he will create and edit the playbill inserts, work with the Marketing Manager on social media, submit events on various websites and more. The intern will also be expected to execute some basic in-house design projects and must have knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign and the Adobe Creative Suite. She/he will be expected to attend staff meetings and work some events outside regular office hours. Other duties to be assigned. The internship can be modified based on the strengths of the candidate. Enthusiasm and interest in the performing and visual arts are necessary.
Candidates with a career focus on marketing and public relations preferred.
The internship will run through February- June, 2017, Mon-Fri 9:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. No housing provided. Stipend provided. SOPAC is located at the South Orange stop on NJ Transit’s Morris-Essex line and is 35 minutes from NY Penn Station.

Part Time Positions:
SOPAC is seeking a part-time Box Office Representative for ticket sales and customer service. Box Office Representatives are the first people that patrons interact with when they call or visit the SOPAC Box Office, and play an instrumental role in creating a positive experience for guests attending SOPAC events. SOPAC is seeking attentive, courteous, and detailed orientated individuals who are committed to advancing SOPAC’s reputation as a premier regional performing arts center. The successful applicant will be a responsible, mature, punctual team-player with a warm and friendly attitude and an appreciation for the performing arts.
Merchandise sellers must have experience handling money and can work well under high pressure situations. Merchandise sellers will communicate with the artist management, and count in merchandise, discuss the percentage that SOPAC will take, and cash out at the end of the performance, SOPAC is seeking attentive, courteous, and detail-oriented individuals who are committed to advancing SOPAC’s reputation as a premier regional performing arts center. The successful applicant will be a responsible, mature, and a punctual team player with a warm and friendly attitude and appreciation for the performing arts.
The Marketing and Communications Department is seeking applicants for the Promotions Team on a part-time, as-needed basis. The Promotions Team distributes printed materials (postcards, flyers, brochures, etc) to local businesses within the community and throughout nearby towns. Applicants must be outgoing, friendly, and willing to approach business owners and other staff. SOPAC is seeking attentive, courteous, and detail-oriented individuals who are committed to advancing SOPAC’s reputation as a premier regional performing arts center. The successful applicant will be a responsible, mature, and a punctual team player with a warm and friendly attitude and appreciation for the performing arts. Promotions Team members may be asked to help out in the office from time to time and will be compensated on an hourly basis.
