Cowboy Junkies

Alternative Rock

The famed Canadian alt-rock band returns on tour, stopping at SOPAC for an exclusive one-night only, area engagement.  Since their founding in the mid-1980s, Cowboy Junkies have received critical acclaim, with a loyal fan base throughout North America.  Their 1988 release, The Trinity Sessions, garnered them a wider following and catapulted the album to platinum sales.

The group has continued to perform and record over the past decade and features the original line-up of guitarist, Michael Timmins (guitar); drums, Peter Timmins (drums); bassist Alan Anton; and vocalist Margo Timmins.  They posses a distinct musical style, which has gained them admirers such as indie favorite Ryan Adams, and they continue to promote their unique sound through recordings and live performance.  Don’t miss the opportunity to hear the Cowboy Junkies in their only area performance!

LeE HARVey OsMOND
Folk Rock, Alternative Rock

Fronted by Tom Wilson, LeE HARVeY OsMOND is an artist collective that creates a sound that rooted in folk music traditions and steeped in the darker sounds of the genre.  At times a stripped-down solo show featuring Wilson, or a full five-piece band LeE HARVeY OsMOND, the group’s development traces its genesis to a November 2006 traveling music festival organized by Roots on the Rails, which hosts artists and fans on a cross-Canada train trip, with nightly performances and lots of musical interplay.  That particular trip featured, among others, Blackie & The Rodeo  Kings (Wilson’s current band), the Cowboy Junkies and the Skydiggers. Wilson began co-writing with Skydiggers guitarist Josh Finlayson and contributed a vocal to a long-gestating project that Junkies guitarist Michael Timmins had been preparing. These projects lead to the development of LeE HARVeY OsMOND and their first album, A Quiet Evil (Latent Recordings), allowing bass, hypnotic rhythms and a lot of groove.

This is folk music that defies a feel good vibe, but rather focuses on the hard realities of life. Wilson has produced a haunting, beautiful sound that is quickly finding an audience across North America.  Be among the first to discover this distinctive artist collaboration, whose genesis, if not the sound, is reminiscent of the Postal Service.
