"....a most appropriate name for what is bound to become a stellar group in the musical world."
- News Herald

Formed at The Juilliard School during spring of 2006, ETA3 strives to communicate the intellectual and emotional elements of life by broadening the audience's perspective through a varied range of repertoire. This classical trio is comprised of American flutist Emily Thomas, Japanese Pianist Tomoko Nakayama and Russian Clarinetist Alexey Gorokholinsky. The Trio was recognized by Juilliard as one of three prominent emerging chamber music groups of 2006.

Emily Thomas
Born in Huntsville, Alabama, Emily Thomas is pursuing her Masters at The Juilliard School under the tutelage of Robert Langevin, principal flutist of the New York Philharmonic. She has been awarded the New Horizons Fellowship and Academy of American conductors’ fellowship to the Aspen Music Festival.

Tomoko Nakayama
Born in Tokyo, Tomoko began private piano lessons at the young age of five and gave her first solo recital at the age of eleven. Tomoko has received her Bachelor of Music in Harpsichord Performance and is presently getting her Masters Degree in the Collaborative Piano Department. She is also the official pianist for the Chamber Orchestra of New York.

Alexey Gorokholinsky
Alexey Gorokholinsky began studying the piano at age four before switching to clarinet at seven. Currently working towards earning his Master’s degree, Alexey is a pupil of Charles Neidich. He is the recipient of the Bidu Sayao Scholarship, the Paul Louis Berlin Scholarship, The Fredericka Schick Horochiloff Award, and the Mitzi Koo Foundation Scholarship.
